Protecting the Community - Taskforce with a Difference - June 2008

Ripley Valley Rural Fire Brigade was invited to participate in a Taskforce to assist Dept of Natural Resources with a large hazard reduction burn on Stradbroke Island in beautiful Moreton Bay in June 2008. RV Unit 52 was sent across for nearly a week along with crews from Tambourine Mtn, Jimboomba and Greenbank RFB's.

Plenty of patchy scrub to light up but beware of the molasses grass; it gives off some nasty gasses when burnt!

Frank trialling the new 12mm hose and high pressure pump.

The extra pressure also equated to extra range which was good when putting out lit up bark etc up in trees.
