Brigade Training - Burn Over Drill

The brigade regularly a burn over drill in the training agenda. The following photographs illustrate the techniques used to do this drill which is a last ditch safety measue in case a crew is trapped in front of a fire front.

With the flammables moved off the truck away from the fire front and the truck hosed down, the crew then need to get into the cabin as low as possible. Full PPE needs to be worn.

The driver gets into place and calls a RED RED RED radio message with their location and states the burn over is about to happen.

A crew member fits along the floor of the cabin with their feet up against the drivers feet. The first aid kit goes under the truck pedals.

The third crew members gets in with the fire blankets and places them over the team members.

They then lie down as low as they can go placing the blankets over themselves.
