Protecting the Community - Swanbank September 2009

The Brigade was responded to a large grass fire early one Sunday morning to an area near Swanbank Power Station. Also responded was Mt Forbes RFB. Seems QFRS was taking no chances despatching two Brigades instead of just two appliances during the Wildfire Alert Level Three in place at the time.

Incident Summary.

Fire started: 8.47am 27/09/09

Fire location: Bushland at Swanbank Power Station, Swanbank

Fire appliances involved: RV41, RV51, RV52, MF41, MF51, MF71

Approximate Size: 1-2 hectares

Action: extinguishment

Incident terminated: 12.05pm

The guys form a plan of attack. Steve P got the IC pay packet for the day.

Vehicle access was very limited so it was over to hand tools, back packs and blowers to try and get the job done as quickly as possible before the heat of the day set in.

Where are the beers ask John E and Scott??

Dave keeping a watch on his patch.

A concerned local resident.

Crews from Mt Forbes RFB helped out kindly on the day; with thanks!

Area made safe, thanks to all Members who attended. Thanks also to Matt Carter for the great pics.
