The
Brigade certainly started the year with a sizzle. On the 16th January
as the mercury hit 30 degrees Celsius at 9.30AM, sure enough the pagers
went off. Ripley Valley RFB was asked to respond in support of 645J
at a scrub fire along Fischers Road at Ripley where fire was approaching
a home.
Being
several weeks since the last rains, the ground cover had dried out fully
and even though there was a green tinge to the grass; this little fire
just would not go out. RV52 responded and were also backed up by 643A
and 645Y. The fire had consumed approximately 5Ha by the time it was
fully contained mid afternoon.
