Protecting the Community - Swanbank Bushland February 2010

On a warm Sunday afternoon that just happened to be Valentine's Day, the Brigade was activated to a fire in bushland adjacent to industrial sites at Swanbank. Several hours later; the response crew in RV52 finally found access to the fire which was burning in pretty rugged countryside. With Matt taking charge as Incident Controller, additional crews were responded in RV41 and RV51.

Fire breaks were put in with local earth moving equipment and back burning operations undertaken to contain the fire.

Due to the green state of the bush with recent rains, fire activity was patchy and so crews called it a night once the area was made safe with the Day Shift crew to tidy things up the next day.

Time to knock off.
