Protecting the Community - Redbank Plains HR Burn -September 2011

On the 22nd and 25th September; members of the brigade helped a local land owner with a broad acre grass HR burn. Gary Chapman coordinated the exercise and did a great job. The following photos summarise some of the fun and training of the exercise.

The first part of the burn was carried out in the evening of Thursday 22nd September. All Ripley Valley RFB units attended.

With the grass well cured, it made for a colourful night.

By 9PM, the humidity had started to set in and slowed the burn down. Time to knock off.

For the second part of the exercise, crews started mid morning on Sunday 25th September.

The grass was shorter in some of the paddocks.

There were still plenty of opportunities to train up our newer members.

The high pressure systems were given a good test run.

..and in the name of training; just how much foam does it take to put out a log pile?

At the end of a long day; crews headed home; job well done. But wait there's more; as Adrian found out. Ah the joys of filling up from a rarely used water point.
