John Bowles - Flood Deployment 2011

One of our Officers and former First officer, John Bowles, was tasked with being a Divisional Commander in the Sommerset Shire as part of the flood clean-up operations in January 2011. Whilst overseeing QFRS activities in the Esk, Fernvale and Lowood areas; he took these photos.

How quickly the water went...

Travelers along Glamorganvale Road said they could not believe their eyes with what they saw.

Now there is a lot of unsealed roads in the area.

The Glamorganvale Brigade had a complete Fire Shed relocation. The shed was moved in tact complete with Concrete Slab and Trailer unit inside.

Hope the work was still to be done.

The Water Board was built in the right place to see how far Black Snake Creek rose to and the height of the water inside it.

A mysterious container deposited at the Community Hall.

Regards,

John Bowles,

Officer and VCE Area Coordinator,

Ripley Valley Rural Fire Brigade.
