With
most of the Valley looking green after the rains over the Christmas
period, it was a surprise to get a call out to a grass fire to assist
the Urbans at Deebing Heights estate on the 13th January; the first
call of the year. The fire had spread into scrub land adjacent to houses.
Initially
RV41 was required and so Dave and Antie responded. A second appliance
was then called on and RV51 was despatched with Matt M, Matt C and Brian
forming the crew. The fire was quickly brought under control and crews
finished up early in the evening.

Smoke
was visible for miles in the still mid afternoon air.
