Fire
Fighter Games (South Eastern Region)
28/29 May 2011
These competitions help improve the core operational firefighting skills
of the Rural, Auxiliary and Urban firefighters. Teams from the south
eastern region competed at Gatton on the weekend 28/29 May 2011. Also
featured on the Saturday was a ceremony to hand over two new appliances
to Murphy's Creek RFB who lost there old ones in the January floods.
The QFRS also recognised a number of long standing rural fire fighters
from around the region with medals. Some members from Ripley Valley
Rural Fire Brigade attended on Saturday – not to compete but to help
with VCE and to support two of our members who received medals. Congratulations
to John Bowles and Jim Runham who were awarded the National Medal for
15 years service as active firefighters within QFRS.

The
ceremony was chaired by the South East Region's new Manager for Rural
Operations, Peter Varley and had the two new Murphy's Creek RFB appliances
as a back drop.
The
competition was well attended by many rural, auxiliary and urban brigades
and the teamwork was tremendous.

It
made a great smoke spotter (wonder if we can get one).

Great view of Gatton.
