Centenary Highway Extension Opening

In June 2009, the Centenary Highway extension from Springfield through Ripley Valley and onto Yamanto was officially opened. This major infrastructure project will certainly change the landscape of Ripley Valley for ever and Members of the Brigade were there for the celebrations. Official dignitaries including the Premier of Queensland, Anna Bligh and Ipswich Mayor, Paul Pisasale were on hand to cut the ribbon. However all of the children's eyes were on Blazer The Bear. A selection of photos below high-light some of the fun of the day.

The gang all set up including RV52 and the new incident support trailer.

Blazer and Chukka mingling with the crowd including the guys from Camira urban station.

Blazer always a hit with the kids.

Rachael Nolan MP, all smiles with Blazer.

Beware of fire ants, they are especially dangerous at this size.

Blazer should be in politics as he celebrates the opening with Cr Charlie Pisasale.

It's all about team work.

"Ripley's got talent"?

Blazer recruiting new troops.

Only in Ripley.

Blazer and George meet the boss, Anna Bligh MP.
